Center for Advising and Career Exploration
The Center for Advising and Career Exploration (CACE) is being reorganized to improve our students’ academic advising and to ensure that all students benefit from comprehensive career services.
First-year students who have chosen a major or who have indicated a preference for a major in a particular academic school will no longer be advised by CACE. Instead, incoming first-year and transfer students will initially be advised by professional advisors in each school’s advising center, before transitioning to faculty advisors in their chosen majors. To handle the additional advising load, professional advisors from CACE will henceforth help to staff the school-based advising centers.
Students who have not yet expressed a preference for a major in a particular school will continue to be advised in the CACE office in Carroll Hall. Two dedicated advisors will help those students explore different pathways leading to the choice of a major.
CACE will also become the home of a dedicated career services unit serving the entire university by managing our employment website, hosting career fairs, and sponsoring workshops on career exploration and preparation. The career services unit will also work closely with the academic schools to coordinate discipline specific career fairs, employment opportunities, internships, and co-ops.
