Dear Central Family,
After much deliberation and research, the Commencement Committee and I have determined that we need to make improvements and adjustments to our commencement plans. While addressing several impending challenges, our objective is to make this very important day a joyful and memorable celebration for our graduates and their families.
One of the major impediments we face is that Kaiser Hall will not be available for Graduate Commencement because of construction. Our options are limited; we’ve outgrown Welte Auditorium; we want to avoid limiting our graduates to two guest tickets, and we’re facing major budgetary issues.
Our plan is to hold two ceremonies, combining undergraduate and graduate candidates, on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the XL Center in Hartford.
9 a.m. ceremony - The undergraduate and graduate candidates from the Ammon College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Engineering, Science, & Technology will participate.
3 p.m. ceremony - The undergraduate and graduate candidates from the School of Business and the School of Education and Professional Studies will participate.
Plans are also underway to host an annual Winter Commencement beginning in either December of 2018 or January 2019. We’ll be sharing those details very soon.
In the coming months, please check this web page for additional details. We are working with student leadership to incorporate new elements into the CCSU commencement experience that, in years to come, will be embraced as proud traditions that will lead to a heightened sense of connectedness between the University and our alumni.
