Financial Aid Office

The U.S. Department of Education and the CCSU FA Office select the FAFSA applications which are to be verified. The primary information requiring verification includes a tax filer's adjusted gross income (AGI), taxes paid, and certain untaxed income. If you are selected for verification, you will be notified by the Financial Aid Office and will be required to complete additional steps before the financial aid application can be processed.

You will be notified via email and Central Pipeline for Students.

Please do not submit documents unless requested.

The Financial Aid Office does not accept copies of Federal Tax Returns. Students and parents are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when submitting the FAFSA. In rare circumstances, if an amended tax return is filed, we can accept signed copies of Federal Tax Returns (1040, 1040A, 1040EZ) along with a signed 1040X (amended tax return).

We review the data and compare it with the information on FAFSA.

Failure to submit all requested documents would prevent aid from crediting or paying against your tuition statement, which can result in financial holds and prevent registration for future semesters. Delayed receipt of documents may result in cancellation of the full financial aid award.

There may be adjustments to the financial aid award if there are differences between what is reported on FAFSA and the submitted documents.

Wages, Salaries, Tips, Etc.

We need to verify the wages listed on FAFSA.

The wages would be listed on your filed Tax Return:

  • 1040EZ - Line 1
  • 1040A - Line 7
  • 1040 - Line 7 + 12 + 18
Filed a 1040EZ or 1040A

We require all copies of W-2 Forms. If you do not have a copy, you may request a copy from your current and/or previous employer(s).

Filed a 1040

The documents required would include W-2 Forms, Tax Schedule C (line 12), and/or Tax Schedule F (line 18).
