Tech4U – Student Technology Guide is Now an E-Book!

We are happy to announce that the “Tech4U Student Guide to Technology at CCSU” is now available as an e-book! Visit www.ccsu.edu/tech4u to view and download a copy. Please pass this information along to your students. We are actively working on the Faculty and Staff e-book versions and plan to have those available to you by spring break. For now, you may access the web-based version of the Faculty/Staff guide at www.ccsu.edu/tech4u.

No More Locks! - Update

All of the locks on the black box instructor workstations have been replaced with latches.  This will eliminate the need for a key to unlock the workstations.  All of the computers are locked down inside the black box, so there is no security risk. Update: In terms of locking the classroom door, there has been no change to this policy. If a classroom door is outfitted with a locknetics (card swipe) locking mechanism, it is highly recommended that the door be closed following each class.

Attention Entourage Users

Office 2011 for the Macintosh now includes Outlook!  While Entourage still works with our current e-mail environment, we highly recommend that you convert to Outlook.  Entourage will continue to be supported on a limited basis through the spring semester.  To upgrade your CCSU owned computer to Office 2011, please click here.

IT Will Never Ask For Your Password!

Please be reminded, Information Technology at CCSU will never ask for your password via e-mail.  The only place Information Technology will prompt you to go to for account issues is through the "CCSU BlueNet Accounts Management System" https://webapps.ccsu.edu/accounts/.  If an e-mail is sent to you directing you to a different link it is in all probability, a phishing attempt.   The best defense against messages like these is to forward them to our spam server.  By reporting these messages as spam directly to the spam server, it helps to identify which messages should be blocked in the future.  Information regarding our spam filter can be found here.
