What is a BlueNet Account and how do I get a one?
A BlueNet Account is a unique username and password assigned to each faculty, staff, and student at CCSU. Your BlueNet Account is used to access computing services both on and off campus; it is the only account you need to access most of our computer resources. Use your BlueNet Account to access computers on campus, WebCentral-Banner Web, Blackboard Vista, and many other web-based systems.
Students instructions for getting a BlueNet Account:
To activate your BlueNet Account, visit the Accounts Management web site located at https://accounts.ccsu.edu/. You will need to know your 8-digit ID number to activate an account.
Faculty/Staff instructions for getting a BlueNet Account:
Your BlueNet Account is the same computer network account (formerly known as an NT account) you use to connect to the campus network. If you do not have a BlueNet Account, you must complete the BlueNet Account Request form. The form can be brought to the IT Main Office or faxed in. You will be contacted once your BlueNet Account request has been processed with instructions on how to activate your BlueNet Account.

Why does my BlueNet Account password expire every 60 days? For security reasons, everyone is forced to change their passwords every 60 days. In the event that someone learns your password, they can access your personal information and can possibly make changes to it and/or use your identify for undesirable purposes. The more often you change your password, the more secure your account and personal information will be.
How can I avoid having my BlueNet Account password expire?
You will receive a warning about your expiration each time you log into a PC on campus. These warnings start 14 days before the expiration and continue each day until the expiration date. It is advisable for you to change your password as soon as you see this warning. You will avoid password expiration by changing your password on a regular basis. You don't have to wait the 60 days, you can reset it at any time. After you reset your password, your new password will last for 60 days after the day you change it.
If you miss (or ignore) the warnings, the password will automatically expire. The next time you attempt to log into a web-based system after your password has expired, you will get a Failed Login (Username/Password pair not found error). If this happens, you will need to reset your password at https://accounts.ccsu.edu/.

What if I get a blank screen when attempting to access a course in Blackboard Vista?
Your Internet browser may need a 'tuneup' in order to use Blackboard Vista successfully. Go to www.webct.com/tuneup and follow the instructions on the screen or visit our Vista Help page at http://www.ccsu.edu/vista. You may also need to do one or more of the following:
Disable popup/ad blocker programs on your computer. Blackboard Vista depends on pop-ups to be enabled.
Spyware could interfere with the use of Blackboard Vista. It is strongly suggested they you install a spyware remover on your computer.
Your firewall/security software may be interfering with Blackboard Vista. Be sure that your firewall/security software is up-to-date. You can also try disabling the firewall/security software or make sure that your firewall is allowing access to the Blackboard Vista server.
You must have an anti-virus program installed on your computer and it must be up-to-date. CCSU provides all students, faculty, and staff with a free version of McAfee anti-virus software. Go to http://www.ccsu.edu/its/usersupport/UserDocs/McAfee.htm for further information.
If you are still experiencing problems, go to www.webct.com/trouble and follow the instructions.

What is MyCCSU?
We are piloting a new e-mail system, called MyCCSU, powered by Microsoft Live@edu. For existing students, instead of the two previous choices of a CCSU Exchange Mailbox or setting your e-mail to forward to a personal account, you have the option to join the pilot. You can cancel out of the e-mail preferences screen if you do not want to join the MyCCSU pilot. New students will automatically receive a MyCCSU account.
Your MyCCSU account will provide you with a 10GB lifetime mailbox, a 25GB SkyDrive (online data storage) and many other useful tools. Your new e-mail account will end with @my.ccsu.edu and is accessible from Microsoft Outlook Live at www.outlook.com.

How do I access my CCSU e-mail?
We are piloting a new e-mail system for students called MyCCSU (powered by Microsoft Live@edu). After the pilot, we plan to transition all student e-mail to the MyCCSU e-mail system.
New Students - As a student, your e-mail access is set up when you activate your BlueNet Account. Your new BlueNet Account will be created with a MyCCSU e-mail account. When you activate your BlueNet Account, you will be prompted to select your MyCCSU e-mail address (a unique name followed by @my.ccsu.edu).
Continuing Students - Students with an existing BlueNet Account have a CCSU e-mail address (your BlueNet Account username followed by @ccsu.edu). Your e-mail is managed by our CCSU e-mail server and accessed using Microsoft Outlook, unless you chose to forward your e-mail to your personal (external) e-mail address. You may keep your @ccsu.edu e-mail address until all student e-mail accounts are moved to MyCCSU or you may participate in the MyCCSU e-mail pilot once it begins. To activate your MyCCSU e-mail account, visit the Accounts Management System at https://accounts.ccsu.edu. Once you activate your MyCCSU account, you will not be able to change back to a CCSU-managed or forwarded e-mail account.
MyCCSU (Microsoft Outlook Live@edu) Pilot
New students or those opting to participate in the MyCCSU pilot will access their e-mail using Outlook Live:
- Open your web browser and navigate to www.outlook.com.
- Enter your MyCCSU e-mail address (accountname@my.ccsu.edu) and password.
- Click on the Sign In button. Outlook Live opens and your MyCCSU e-mail is displayed.
Accessing Your CCSU-Managed E-mail (Faculty, Staff, and Students)
Microsoft Outlook (PC)
Many computers on campus, such as those in offices, at the Marcus White Computer Lab or in computer-equipped classrooms, will allow you to log in with your BlueNet Account and view your e-mail using the full version of Microsoft Outlook (PC).
Outlook Web Access (OWA)
View your e-mail from any computer (PC or Mac) with Internet access:
- Open your web browser and navigate to https://webmail.ccsu.edu.
- Enter your BlueNet Account username and password.
- Click on the Log On button. Outlook Web Access opens and your CCSU e-mail is displayed.
Remote Application Server
You can also use the remote application server to access Microsoft Outlook from any computer with an Internet connection. To access the Remote Application Server, visit https://apps.ccsu.edu .
Forwarded E-Mail (Students only)
If you set up e-mail forwarding to forward your CCSU e-mail to a personal (external) e-mail address, you will not use the CCSU e-mail system to view messages sent to your CCSU e-mail address because it is forwarded to the external e-mail address you specified.
Due to the MyCCSU pilot, you will not be able to update your forwarding e-mail address, therefore if the e-mail address you specified for forwarding is no longer valid, you will be required to participate in the MyCCSU pilot.
